HA NOI — The Viet Nam National Assembly and the Ireland Parliament should continue to exchange experiences and strengthen the relationship between their deputies, which in turn would lead to increased understanding and mutual trust between the two nations and further promote multifaceted bilateral co-operation.

National Assembly Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan made the statement while receiving chairman Pat Breen of the Irish National Parliament Joint Committee on Foreign Affairs and Trade, who started his six-day working visit in Viet Nam yesterday.

Viet Nam and Ireland needed to exchange more high-level delegations and share legislative experiences, Breen said, adding that they should speed up the establishment of a parliamentary friendship group in the meantime.

The two countries should boost investment as well as push the trade partnership to its full potential, Ngan said.

Breen affirmed that the Irish Government should continue to implement new projects to assistance Viet Nam with poverty eradication, education and unexploded ordnance clearance. — VNS
